Castile soap is a name used in English-speaking countries for soap made with olive oil originating from the Castile region of Spain. Castile soap is made completely from vegetable oil instead of animal fats or synthetic substances. It is not a brand name or trademark but it is from the Castile region of Spain.
Traditionally Olive Oil was used but due to the higher cost of organic Olive Oil we are now using Sunflower Oil and Coconut Oil. Due to the straight forward nature of the soap, it means it is more environmentally friendly as there is less waste produced when making it and it is more bio-degradable than other soaps.
